The short answer
The cost of a website depends
on what it has to do
How much a website costs depends on the type, and it ranges from €500 for a landing page to over €9,900 for a large e-commerce site. With us a landing page starts at €500, a brochure website at €900, a corporate website at €2,500, a custom project at €7,000 and an e-commerce site at €1,950. Website costs depend on the type of website, the number of pages, the features, the integrations and how much material you already have ready. Below you will find each item explained, with our own prices given as a stated example. If you want to go straight to the figures, start from the prices by type of website.

What it depends on
What the price
of a website depends on
When you ask how much it costs to build a website, whoever answers is really estimating the work. Six things make it vary the most.
The type of website. A single page has nothing to do with a twenty-page website, and a twenty-page website has nothing to do with an online store. The structure, the testing and the responsibilities all change.
The number of pages. Every page has to be designed, laid out, written or edited, optimized for search engines and checked on phone and desktop. Ten more pages mean more hours of work.
Copy, photos and logo. If you already have everything ready, the work goes quickly. If something is missing, someone has to produce it, whether a photographer, a copywriter or a graphic designer. It is a cost that is sometimes left out of the quote and shows up later.
The features. A contact form is one thing. Bookings, a private area, price calculation or a product configurator are real development work.
The integrations. Connecting the website to a management system, an invoicing system, a CRM or couriers takes work and testing, because a mistake here means wrong orders.
Languages and markets. A multilingual website needs translations, a structure Google understands and testing on every version.
On top of these, if you sell online, comes everything related to e-commerce. You will find it further down in a dedicated chapter.
Comparison
Cheap or professional websites,
what really changes
When you look up website prices you find offers of a few hundred euros and quotes of several thousand euros for websites that, at first sight, look the same. Two figures that far apart usually do not describe the same work. There is no fixed rule and not every low price hides problems, but the differences are almost always found in the same areas.
- Starting from scratch or from a ready-made template with a few changes.
- How many pages and how much copy are included, and who writes it.
- Testing on phone, tablet and desktop and checking loading speed.
- Basic SEO, meaning page titles, descriptions, structure and URLs taken care of before launch.
- Security, backups and updates after launch.
- Who answers if something does not work, and how quickly.
- Who the domain, the hosting and the website are registered to.
For a small business that only needs an online presence, a simple website can be enough and there is no need to spend more. If you need the website to bring in inquiries or sales, it pays to check item by item what is included before choosing the lowest figure.
One-time and recurring
Website development costs,
one-time and recurring
The development price is the most visible part, but it is not the only one. A website has costs you pay once and costs that come back every year or every month.
One-time. Design, development, layout, setup, testing and going live. You may add professional photos, copy written by someone else, translations and a logo, if you don't have them.
Recurring. The domain renews every year, usually for a modest amount, and the price varies from one registrar to another. Hosting costs depend on resources, little for a small website, more for an e-commerce site with many products and visitors. Then there are licenses for paid plugins or software, when needed, and maintenance.
With us, hosting and maintenance are included for the first 12 months on a brochure website. Monthly maintenance costs €190 per month for a WordPress website and €290 per month for a WooCommerce store, with updates, fixing anything that stops working and backups. For smaller jobs there are the hour packages of our WordPress support, 5 hours for €350, 10 hours for €600, 20 hours for €1,100.
Some providers also offer the website as a subscription, with a monthly fee that covers everything. You pay less at the start and more over time, and you should always ask what happens to the website and its content if you stop paying. With a website you buy, on the other hand, you pay for development once and then you decide whether to have maintenance and which kind.
How much it costs to maintain a website per year. Add up the recurring items, meaning domain, hosting, licenses and maintenance. An HTML brochure website that changes a few times a year has no core or plugins to update, and domain, hosting and a few hours of changes when needed are often enough. A WordPress website needs constant updates to core, theme and plugins, and there monthly maintenance makes sense. An e-commerce site also needs orders, payments and products checked, which is why the WooCommerce fee is higher than the WordPress one.
Examples
Building a website,
the costs in three examples
To see how much a website costs in practice, here are three common situations with the prices from our list. They are examples to help you get your bearings, the price of your project is set by the quote.
A craft business with eight pages and the material ready. It is a brochure website, from €900, online in one week from when the copy and photos arrive. Hosting and maintenance are included for the first 12 months. From the second year you can choose the WordPress plan at €190 per month or keep an hour package for the changes you really need.
A company with a technical catalog, a blog and one extra language. Here you move up to the corporate website, from €2,500, with a timeline of 2 to 4 weeks. On top of development come the translations, if you don't already have them, and maintenance, which on a website that is kept up to date is often worth keeping active.
A website that already exists but is old and slow. Often there is no need to start from scratch. A website redesign starts at €1,200 for a static website of up to 10 pages and at €1,500 for a WordPress website, with the old URLs redirected so you don't lose your Google rankings.
Do it yourself
Building a website yourself,
what it really costs
How much does it cost to create a website yourself? Little in money and a lot in time. With WordPress the out-of-pocket costs are domain, hosting and any paid themes or plugins, which often renew every year. With an online website builder you pay a monthly subscription, and the website stays tied to that platform. Today there are also artificial intelligence tools that generate pages and code from a description. They shorten the layout work, not the work of deciding what to write and for whom.
The cost you don't see is the result. Putting pages online is the easy part. Writing them so that Google understands them, so that they load quickly on a smartphone and so that visitors call is the real work. For a minimal presence doing it yourself can be enough. If the website has to bring in inquiries or sales, the money saved at the start is lost in contacts that never arrive. You will find the step by step process, with an honest comparison of the two routes, in the guide on how to create a website.
E-commerce
If the website has to sell,
the costs of an online store
If you are wondering how much it costs to launch a website to sell online, start here. An online store costs more than a brochure website because it has to handle the catalog, cart, payments, shipping and, often, the connection to the management system. With us there are four tiers.
Start
from€1,950
- Timeline of 1 week
Professional
from€2,950
- Timeline of 1 to 3 weeks
Top
from€4,950
- Timeline of 3 to 6 weeks
Ultra
from€9,900
- Large catalogs, B2B, custom development
- Timeline of 5 to 15 weeks
Indicative prices. The right tier cannot be worked out from the number of products.
What really moves the price of an e-commerce site are product variations (sizes, colors, configurations), the management system or ERP to connect, the payment methods, the couriers, languages and currencies, the B2B side with customer-specific price lists, marketplaces like Amazon or eBay and ad campaign tracking. The platform matters too. We work with WooCommerce, Shopify, PrestaShop and Magento.
After launch comes day-to-day management. An online store lives on updates, checks on orders and payments and constant small changes. That is why many choose a maintenance plan. If you want to see what this means in practice, look at our work on VenditaVernici.it, BBQParadise and Pet Food Web. For the details of each tier there is the page on how much an e-commerce website costs.
Watch out
Hidden costs
to watch out for
A low quote can become a high one later. These are the items to ask about explicitly before accepting.
- Are the domain and hosting registered to you or to whoever built the website? If they are in their name, you need their permission to change provider.
- How much the yearly renewal of domain and hosting costs, and when it starts.
- Whether licenses for paid plugins, themes and software are included, and for how long. They often renew every year.
- Who writes the copy and who supplies the photos, and whether there are costs for images.
- Translations, if the website is in more than one language.
- How many changes after delivery are included and how much the others cost.
- How long support after launch is included in the price and who answers.
- Whether the privacy policy, cookies and consent are included or have to be done separately.
- If the website is built with subscription software, how much the subscription costs and what happens to your content if you stop paying.
How to read it
How to read a quote
and compare two
Put the two quotes side by side and check the same thing in both. If an item is missing, ask whether it is included.
- What is delivered, meaning number of pages, features, languages and platform.
- Whether the price is fixed or hourly. With a fixed price you know in advance what you'll spend, with hourly billing the total can change.
- The timeline, and when it starts, from signing or from delivery of the material.
- How you pay, with a deposit, a balance and any installments.
- What is excluded, written clearly.
- What happens after launch for maintenance, support and updates.
- Who owns the website, the code and the domain when the work is finished.
Our way of working is a written fixed-price quote, after a call of about 10 minutes. We don't bill by the hour for website and e-commerce projects. We only use hours for the packages dedicated to small jobs on existing websites.

Frequently asked questions about
how much a website costs
How much do you pay to have a website?
With our price list it goes from €500 for a landing page to €7,000 and up for a custom project, and an e-commerce site starts at €1,950. In between there are the brochure website from €900 and the corporate website from €2,500. Other professionals charge different prices, which is why you should compare what is included and not just the figure.
What are the fixed costs of a website?
They are the yearly renewal of domain and hosting, maintenance and the licenses for any paid plugins, themes or software. The domain usually costs a modest amount, while hosting grows with the resources the website needs. With us, hosting and maintenance are included for the first 12 months on a brochure website.
How much does it cost to maintain a website per year?
It depends on how much looking after the website needs. On top of domain and hosting, our maintenance costs €190 per month for a WordPress website and €290 per month for a WooCommerce store, with updates, backups and fixing anything that stops working. If you rarely touch the website there are hour packages, 5 hours for €350, 10 hours for €600, 20 hours for €1,100.
How much does a simple website cost?
With us a landing page of 3 to 5 pages starts at €500 and a brochure website of up to 20 pages at €900, with hosting and maintenance included for 12 months. These are the two right options if you only need to present your business and be contacted.
Can I create a website on my own?
Yes, with WordPress, with an online website builder and today also with artificial intelligence tools. The out-of-pocket costs are domain, hosting and any paid themes or plugins, or the builder subscription. The real cost is your time and the risk of a website nobody finds, so for a minimal presence it can be enough, for a website that has to bring in inquiries it usually is not.
How much does a brochure website cost?
With us a brochure website costs from €900, up to 20 pages, online in one week from when we receive your material, with hosting and maintenance included for the first 12 months. Within that range the price moves with the number of pages, how much material is ready and any extra features.
Why are quotes for the same website so different?
Because they often do not describe the same work. The number of pages, who writes the copy, the features, the testing, the support after launch and who the domain is registered to all change. Before comparing two figures you need to compare what is inside them.
